Felt Yurt Tents (Yurt-Ger-Boz Üy)

Yurt Tents are perhaps the most loved and meaningful product of the nomadic culture. Oghuz and Töles hordes call it Yurt, and in Kyrgyzstan the name "Boz Üy" is used, which means gray house. In Mongolia it is called "Ger". There are 2 main types of felt yurt tents that have survived to the present day. The Kyrgyz / Kazakh type is the type that we call the tent poles, which is bended from the connection point to the tent wall, the "Orda" in the middle is the standing type with completely spoke and the other is the type that we call Mongolian type, which is the non-bent bars type that reaches Orda directly from the tent walls. The Orda of this Mongolian type also stands on 2 wooden poles that extend to the ground and has a distinctive round design. In general, the difference is the ceiling height at the bottom of the wall and whether there is a column-shaped pole in the middle. The Kyrgyz / Kazakh model has a higher ceiling and no pole in the middle, while the Mongolian type has a lower ceiling height and 2 poles in the middle.
